wow that just answered my question! hopefully this time next week i will be a part of the cammed s197's!!!! iv already got the cams and the charge motion delete plates and the phaser limiters, all im waiting for is my tuner and my valve spring compressor. i ended up going with the comp thumpers stage 2.
ok i see now the line of questioning...
you are taking the phasers out and was wondering
how to get everything back to the way it was....
i'm sure you'll figure out a way to hold the chain up,
when it's time to remove the phaser.
because even though the timing wedge is going to be
in there, you'll still want to support the chain somehow.
can't wait to hear these cams and good luck with
the project. if you have questions fire away.
i plan on making my own timing chain wedge and im going to have help doing the install so i dont think it will be all that bad as long as i take my time. i cant even fathom spending $120 on something i could make. esp being as simple as the wedge.

Hammeron, in the write up, why would you check for the lobe positions after loosening the cam phaser bolt? Would it be fine to make sure the front cylinders are coming up on the exhaust stroke first before loosening that bolt?
ok, i think i see what you are asking and it's
a good question.
ford has you loosen the sprocket bolts before
verifying the lobe positions, just incase you
have to spin the crankshaft a little to fine
tune the lobe positions.
the sprocket bolts take a lot of force to break
loose and breaking them loose, may move the
lobes out of position.
hey man i should be finishing up my car tomorrow night, ran into a few snags on the way. the first cam i installed was fine but when i opened the second box and looked at one of the cams it had a big burn mark or gouge on one of the lobes. tomorrow morning i should be gettin my new cam so look out! one question tho, what did you do for the cam break in?
