I am still trying to find out the problem. I am talking with Mongillo Motors about my tune and thinking about driving down there.

As always, I'll keep everyone up to date

Its funny that when I searched around for info before buying my hot rods that there weren't any threads having anything negative to say about them. I couldn't be happier with them as new headers and the CnL manifold will easily push 350 hp to the wheels. I don't know why these cams are such a pain to tune but the tuners need to figure this out soon. I'm just glad my shop got it right the first time.

share any precious, highly valuable secrets,
with you or your tuner.

He is working on sending me something sooner or later. He said he has been very busy so I have left him plenty of space.

When I do get his tune, I'll post the results and whatnot

ok this is good to hear... i know he's been
installing a lot of hot rod cams in the last
couple of months and it would be nice if
we had at least one tuner we could turn
to, when things get rough.

I am getting a tune from Dyno Joe either today or early tomorrow. There have been a few delays, but everything has worked out. I will comment on Joe's tune...

As soon as as I round up 250 bucks, I'll get a dyno comparison between the two tunes

Sorry to hear about you problem.I have the Hot Rod cams and was faced with this same problem. I have FRPP Buillit CAI,UDP,Shorty Headers,X Pipe,FRPP 410 gears. Before my cams, gears, and headers I got 300 hp with pullies, cai, and dyno tune. After the cams and headers I went back to my tuner and got like 8 hp gain with the timing retarded to 17 deg.I was like 308 hp, I was a little disappointed because my two buddies have the same set up but they have long tubes and their like 335 to 340 to the wheels. Shorty after that I was on a different dyno,The shop that put my cams in and it was still at the same hp. I call Ford Racing and I forget who I spoke to but they said for my timing should be 0 to 500 rpm should be at 7 deg then stay there until 3000 rpm and go to 12 deg.to 3750 rpm then go to 15 deg. until 4500 rpm and at 4500 rpm you need to be retarded to 20 deg. I then went back to my tuner and he set the tune with these numbers and made a few adjustments with this and WOW I'm at 330 hp to the wheels. This car pull so hard and no loss of low end torque, what a difference it made by retarding the timing a little more.I never had a problem with the clutch noise but that maybe in the tune and something needs to be smoothed out. Call Brent at Dyno Tune Performance in Chesapeake, Va. and see if he can email my tune to you or maybe you can send him your tuner. He is one of the best tuners out there IMO and is an awesome person to deal with. Lots of Mustang guys use him. The reason Brent didn't get these number is because he never retarded the timing that much and was trying to keep things safe. But it is what Ford Racing is suggesting so we tried it. I think you have a tune issue and you will see at least a 20 hp gain with these cams. I don't know if you have headers or not but LT are great but don't rule out shorties. I have the shorties on mine and I might not show a higher hp number but my low end torque is awesome. Good luck and I hope this helps out.

Hmm, this is where the phaser limiters limit to. Interesting...

Theres my cam angle table. Under full throttle it looks like this (datalog from car)

So we can see that even though the MAX is set at 20, it sometimes strays over it by up to 1-1.5 degrees. The limiters would prevent that. But do I think I am going to have any issues over 1.5 degrees.... not likely

That was a 50-120 btw

Also, heres a video of the idle. Set at 670. Make sure to watch it in HD.
