Default Rousch Cold air Intake

Do you have to have a tune with a stock rousch cold air intake?

They advertise that you do not need a tune but I would buy a tuner. Get a package CAI and tuner from someone like Brenspeed. I have a Roush CAI and tune. With that setup I got 24 rwhp.

ROUSH
Yes, unless it has the MVT plug as the
Airaid that comes out of the same mold does.
Get an Airaid, its the exact same thing, same mold, same filter,
same manufacturer, sam,e heat shield, different name, cheaper than Roush.
You pay for the ROUSH name, thats all.

If you go with the airaid they advertise you don't. If you want the MOST performance with it get a tuner. I'm planning on getting one but not with a tuner because I want my warranty. If you start adding other mods like headers or pulleys and stuff like that then you'll want to get a tune done.

Plan on buying a $350 unlocked tuner.
As once you upload the stock tune from a stang and
download a custom tune, the tuner is locked to that
VIN # stang. Tuners (people) write tunes (software
parameters) but dont have the unlocked tuner (Predator)
to upload your stock tune and replace it with their performance
tune. Its the responsability of the Stangs owner to purchase the
tuner (device) to store your stock tune on and download
custom tune parameters.

I have a Roush with mass air plug and it works fine. Found it on Craig's list brand new for half the price. Whats nice about the the Roush or Air Raid you can install it,run it and then save up a few more bucks for a nice tuner.

Be aware that a stand-alone CAI will net you roughly 5 RWHP (despite all the manufacturer claims). A CAI & tune combo will net you 15-25 or more RWHP. The tune provides the bigger % of the power add.

Are you able to feel the HP gains? I would hate to spend the money if I cant feel it.
