As long as you're hooking, you won't need tires. It all depends on the track prep, but I always hook and cut low 2.1 60's. Mine is also an auto. I cut a consistent half a second off my 1/8 mile ET with just 4.10's. I am very happy with them.

Ditto,

it took some getting used to (4.10/auto) but after a few runs, I have it down real good.

OP:
You just need to learn how to launch it just right while power braking and when to go WOT off the line. I was cutting 13.4s all day long easily, even though I was aiming for 13.2s the whole time but only got 13.2, 13.3 only but a few times. The gears are fine, so are the tires.. it's all in the launching and finding the right RPMs to launch at.

I went back to the track today and suggested what you said about turning off the o/d and I was able to get 8.99 in the 1/8th and 2.1 from 0-60ft. That was anywhere from 2-3ths better than last week. Thanks for the advise. With a little more practice, I hope to get in the 8.7's range.
