Default Traction Control ON or OFF

Is it better to have the traction control on or off when racing at the track?

Thanks

I prefer on for the first few runs at a track with turns on stock susp. the mustang is pretty wild if you drive like me. TC can hurt your engine but it won't

Tip of the Month, October: Do not buy the $730 Roush Exhaust which a Mangnaflow rep says costs to $117 make (polished, all ss), buy the $170 Roush Exhaust Tips estimated to cost $46 to make and weld them to another company's muffler. This also lets you choose how your car sounds.

I would turn it off, you should be able to handle it no problem.

The Traction control system in our cars is very juvenile. It basically keeps you from doing donuts, but still lets you get enough tire spin to get sideways and get yourself into trouble. I would take it off so that you are not trusting a system to save you. Even when it functions properly, it is a crappy system. I havent driven a 2010, from hearing reviews, their stability control/traction system is much better.

I think our system uses the wheel speed sensors to detect wheel spin and then reduces throttle and applies brakes in order to stop the spinning wheel. Other cars, such as BMWs have lateral accelerometers that detect under and oversteer and can apply the brakes at any single wheel in order to provide a counteractive moment to pull the car back into a neutral behavior.

2010's got that! Wouldn't want it tho. have driven a Z3 with it and it took the fun out of it.

You can turn it off if you dont want it... Why not have it for poor weather conditions while cruising with family or friends? You may be able to pull out a powerslide when you are ready for it, but a random hydroplane may catch you by surprise.
