and limiter or a govenor for your car is a computer rated limit to stop the car from going any faster than a certain speed, you'll hit 125 for example and thats all she'll do, no matter how much pedal you have left, computer shuts down certain components to stop you from going over. they make devices to override it, so you can take it wide open.

And it hit 130 and never missed a beat.... maybe the previous owner messed with it some?

That looks like a BLAST... just wish it wasn't so stinkin' far from here. San Antonio alone is at least a 7 hour drive....

The first week I got my 05 Gt vert a guy in a civic tried to race me. It was literalyl the first race i have ever been in with a perfoamcne car (the "races" in my VW rabbit pickup form my teen years don't count). I was shaking so bad from the adrenaline that when I hit 135 and tried to go into fifth I hit third by mistake because the car wouldn't go into fifth smoothly (or maybe i was shaking too bad, lol).
Talk about hitting the rev limiter. Before I went from 135 to like 90 in about 2 seconds it was still pulling hard. I bet its the last time that dude tries to race me though. The lady that owned my car before me put crap touring tires on the car and it gets zero traction. When I went around the guy at 80 and changed lanes (I was behind him when he took off) I went by him sideways because the car lost traction. I saw the oh **** look on his face as he puckered his sphincter pretty good seeing a Mustang sideways at that speed like two feet from his door. And before you ask, I plan on getting better tires and a good driving school. It was stupid, but fun.
Well...I've had my stock '05 GT before I modded it up to 146mph (radar gun). My buddy's a cop and I had him check me. After modifications, 156mph. Scary speeds either way.
The S197s are limited at 155 mph, a lot of cars are actually. I buried mine past 145 mph when I was stock, and also since I've modded it. The 4.10s helped my top end immensely. OP, tell your husband its not top speed that makes your car fast, its how long it takes it to get there!

I've been told stock GT's will max-out around 147 MPH with some variables being gears and tire size. We're basically aerodynamically limited. Take away drag and the calculated top speed is somewhere around 215 or 225 MPH.
My Brenspeed tune adjusted my top speed limiter to "Don't worry. You'll never get there" according to their tech guys.
