I think it's fine. Been doing this since day one with my car. I wouldn't think twice about it.

And moose, shifting into 2nd going around a turn is usually when I notice it the most.

Not everytime.
Mostly when the situation arose that cause the driveshaft flange
to shift or slip. Not everytime between shifts, no.

I simple retorqued the bolts after preloading the flange in the take-off
direction like brake rotors need to be.....

I have heard the same since new...not sure where the slop is here, but it's normal. I usually hear it when I'm coming to a stop while turning (to back into my parking spot). It does it whether in gear or not, but at a slow pace close to actually stopping. Wierd. I think it's slop in the rear end from factory spacing inside, but that's only a guess. I actually get to tear into my rear soon to replace my axle bearings (burnt one up on the strip ), so I'll see if I can find anything like this.

What kind of 1/4 mile gains did you all get from the 1 piece DS?

I asked a one of my friends who is very knowledgeable about these things and he tells me a LOT of people are experiencing this; believe there is a TSB on it, but it's normal as no one has had an actual problem resulting from it...yet.

As far as the UCA goes, I was thinking that may be the origin myself. I noted the bolt being 14mm, holes on the factory UCA being the same, and the mount hole being 16mm allowing slop, thus the clunking sound. I know that a lot of the aftermarket UCAs now come with metal "bushings" of sorts that eliminate the slop in the mounting location vs. the bolt. I ordered a Steeda one and will let you know if it solves my clunk or not once I get my DSS driveshaft in (actually fried the rear CV connection in the stocker at the track, not my axle bearings, heh).

Quoting Steeda's website:

"Weighing 24lbs less than the factory GT model driveshaft this 1 piece driveshaft greatly reduces rotating mass giving you up to 2 tenths improvement in 1/4 mile performance!"
