Default "clunk" from drive shaft or pumpkin?

Every so often, when shifting gears, I can feel a "clunk" in the drivetrain. I don't really hear it, although there is a noise.

It feels like a worn u-joint would, but doesn't happen all the time. I'm pretty sure it happens when shifting into 2nd. I don't remember it doing it when shifting into other gears.

I've tried backing up and moving forward to see if it was a u-joint, but no luck. The car has been lowered 1.5", but I would think that any noise from the differential related to that would be more constant.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure it's normal. I've heard the same thing on mine. Especially going from 1st into 2nd.

Hey Riptide..hows life over in Montaner?
I went to a Dynotech 3.5 aluminum...cant believe the difference! Everything is tight and positive...the clunking and play comes from that 43 lb 2 piece boat anchor...

It's awesome are you coming up for the 30th international mustang meet this weekend? It's in billings.

Nice choice on the dynotech. It's the one I'm eyeing. Probably score it next year after I finish paying this thing off.

I get the same clunk with the Spydershaft that I had with the stock 2-piece driveshaft.

I had the clunk and the front driveshaft yoke flange bolts were loose.
It was apparent that the flange was spinning ever so slightly within
the sloppyness of the attaching bolt holes.
Been good ever since...
The GT has 2 or 4 flanges to check bolts for tightness......

157db, did you hear the clunk every time you shifted? This is something I only hear now and then. I heard it once today during a 45 minute drive in medium to heavy traffic, but that was it.

It hardly seems like something that would be normal, as it sounds problematic enough that I would think Ford's quality control people would have addressed the problem.

I used to get a clunk when getting on or off the gas at slow speeds or maybe low rpms. An adjustable upper control arm fixed that. Now I get lots of clunks when shifting into 2nd gear while turning. I assume this is either normal or my differential is on it's last legs.
