Exclamation Please help. Ticking noise on 06 GT.

Heyyy.
This is not good please help me outt.

Alrightyy i have a 06 GT and i've done a little work on the engine but i have alot of learing to do when it comes to cars.

My car has been running pretty good put new rims on it about 300miles ago. i opened it up about 4000RPMs an a ticking noise started up i heard it before put the rims on there.

It's pretty fast and not to loud. Sounds like it coming from around the throttlebody. My engine seems to be running way to hot but the thermometer is just at half way. What could this be??? Thank you.

On my stang i have put a steeda air intake, steeda throttle body spacer, catback magnaflow magnapack, SCT tune, 20' 8.5' Zinik rims, michelin a/s tires, speakers an a 12'sub, halo's and taillights.

If you have any idea please help me out.

Thank you very muchh!!!

could be that our 3V motors can and are noisy....the ticking might be lifters which are noisy on our cars....it might just be normal. Any sound file might help....have you had any loss in power....does she run well in general?

Poloxaddict.... Your problem could be noisy Lash Adjusters or Injectors, or...... ??
Sorry, an '06 doesn't have lifters. Check Ford's Technical Service Bulletin TSB 06-4-7 "Ticking Noise from Engine on 4.6 3V ".

+1 on the TSB for possible noisey injectors. Quite a few people post about ticking noises that turn out to be the injectors. A certain amount of that is considered normal. Ford will SUPPOSEDLY determine if it's normal or not (good luck). Our engines heat soak pretty bad and will seem to give off more heat than normal. If you're not showing signs of overheating I wouldn't sweat it.

BTW, trash the TB spacer. The extra weight outweighs the NADA, NONE, ZERO, ZIP performance gains.

When you say open up, do you mean at idle or while driving?

if you only hear it when you have the hood open I would think it's the injectors, if you here it when your driving down the road then I would be concerned.

The reason your feeling so much heat is because of the Aluminu block and heads. UNlike Iron which keeps the heat in more, the aluminum radiates ALOT more heat. It's normal

I had a similar issue on my 05. It was 3 loose spark plugs.

Before the fix I could hear it while driving (re-verb off outside obstacles (walls parked cars, etc...)).

After, no outside noise, just normal injectors noise when the hood is up.
