OK, so back to my original post...should this be a tech question instead? I would assume that below the surface, the stock unit should still be the same? I am thinking by the time it takes to repair the original unit, it would be just as easy to swap for the new style...?
anyone...?
I don't see any reason the 2010 unit will not swap out for yours. Find somebody with a 2010 that is installing an aftermarket shifter like the TCI and buy their stock one. You would be hard pressed to find a 2020 in a junk yard. The only other option would be to buy a new one from Ford, probably not cheap.
good luck to you...

I would have to agree and really agree on the cost issue of buying one new from ford. That would make the tci shifter look like a bargin!
My car only has 16k miles on it and the shifter just moves in a very cheap clunky way. My gf's honda shifter moves very precise compared to the mustang unit. I personally am looking forward to the tci unit.

I guess it's all a matter of personal taste. I am satisfied with the appearance of mine. I thought the handle and lock out were kinda ugly so I did dress it up a little from the stock unit to suit my personal taste.
I do think the FORD stock shifters are kinda "gawdy" and difficult to down shift without having to pay too much attention to the shifter instead of driving.
Wow you did a fine job on that shifter, if I ever get around to getting the ratchet shifter I may just be giving you a call lol!

Thanks for the nice comment. I made those two pieces out of 6061 Aluminum billit one rainy day in my garage for something to do. It took about 12 hours or so to do without machine shop tools.

Casey, you really do great work. Hmmm...do you think you could fashion a new handle without the shift paddle for a TCI?
I guess I will try a request for anyone converting to a TCI in the 2010, and see if I can get the shifter that way...

No Can Do... That toggle takes the place of the button on the top left of your stock shifter. You must have a method to lock it out of reverse or go into or out of PARK, and that is why the paddle is there.
