Limped home today and SCT won't read codes.

Limp home mode really sucks. I did the 'drive of shame' this afternoon. Went out for a drive and didn't get more than a quarter mile and the little wrench showed up and the engine went into 'limp home mode'. Fortunately I was only a short distance from home down some back roads. I have no idea what the problem was since my SCT X2 wouldn't read the trouble codes. It just says 'error reading codes. press sel.' Also tried another code reader I have, and a Diablosport Predator for my Grand Chrokee SRT8. None could read the codes, just got errors. Finally tried Clear DTC and it worked and runs fine now. Anyone else ever have this happen? No recent mods. Haven't driven it in a week. It's colder weather here now. It's not stock so could be a whole lot of things... I tried searching this forum but didn't find anything similar. Thanks.

Without hooking it up to a normal scan tool- there's no way of knowing what the codes were. However, for it to go into limp mode- the computer would have to see something very wrong- like a failed CMP signal or interrupted injector signal.

Probably, one of the sensors went outside it's acceptable range. Now, your reflash is supposed to take care of that, but who knows for sure.

I was just going out for a drive...
I hadn't driven it in about a week. Haven't changed anything in about a year.
I was pulling out onto a road, was just about to shift into 3rd gear and it just lost all throttle. Engine was still running but sounded like it was on 3 cylinders...

disconnect the battery for 15 minutes then reconnect and see if it comes back on

My V6 would do that when I put in 91 gas, not always, but often enough i went back to 87. I pulled over, shut car off, and it reset. Sucks

mine did this over the weekend, no wrench light just the engine light and no limp mode.
my livewire could not read the code, nor could my generic OBDII reader.
i did clear the CEL with the livewire, and it never ran badly, ran like normal.
a week ago i did add 6% fuel @ WOT and brought the a/f down to 11.3 @ WOT, before it was 11.7.
i talked to my friend who tunes my GT, he said if it happens again to bring it in and he'll look at it. but he didn't really have an answer without looking at it.

Some more strangeness:
So I'm checking the strategy code with the SCT and I compared it to the records I kept from when I got the tune. They're different now!

I did bring the car to the dealer to have the Air Conditioner fixed and I told them NOT to re-flash the PCM for any reason...

How could this be possible? Could it actually run on a stock tune with the Whipple?

I haven't driven it much since then to be honest...

CORRECTION: The strategy is correct. They didn't re-flash the PCM...
I tried re-flashing and it runs the same as it did. Warms up for a few mins then craps out.

UPDATE:
It helps to read the owner's manual
The wrench icon means there's a problem with the electronic throttle control system.
Did some research. Could be a problem with the trottle position sensor, throttle body actuator, the PCM itself...
Strange that I can't read any codes though...
I'll probably have to bring it to dealer.
