Default are you satisfied in the 400 hp range

the hp bug is setting in, wondering all that have in the 400 to 460 hp range with fi are you happy with that or will you do more. trying to figure if I stay na and start building which i think without doing a whole lot of research should put me around 400. this is my stress relief toy, not dd.

Honestly, if it's not your D.D. then get the FRPP 550hp H.O. kit and call it a day, then you can blow up the tires all day long.......thats always good stress relief.

I have the 550 Whipple HO kit and have been using this car as my DD. I did have to upgrade tires to F1 Supercar 285/40/18 in the rear, but otherwise no issue with smoking tires. The large amount of torque instantly available at low rpms makes the car a pleasure to drive smoothly and a good 4 second to 60MPH when desired.

400RWHP will definitely make the car a unique experience.

Hi odel I hate to threadjack but are you familiar with how much boost a 3.375 pulley is supossed to put down?? im trying to figure out if it is the 500 or 550hp kit.
Thanks

and as for the OP
Go FI Its as cheap and is so much easier and really is more of a bolt on application than 400 NA. And the regular drivability and mileage isnt affected near as much as doing the NA setup.
To hit 400 NA u will spend atleast what you would to do a good FI setup. You would need full longtubes, cams, all the normal boltons and either some headwork or that new intake manifold thats supposed to net 30rwhp. then u def need new gears with the cams.
After you buy all this stuff and break into the engine you are looking at major $$$ and you cant undo it near as easily later if you ever wanted/needed to.
Then comes the inspection with all this stuff while blowers pass quite easily, if its even an issue in your state.

GO FI!!! It will save you major headaches.

I'm pretty happy with my setup which puts out 400+ rwhp. For $3800 for the kit, I can't complain. I'd imagine it would have cost more than that to do an NA setup and possibly might not even hit the same power level. It really just comes down to how much you want to spend, and how comfortable you are with a possible explosion.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd have just bought the GT500 they had sitting on the showroom floor the day I bought mine. The payment probably would have been $750/month, but when you consider how much money I have into this thing, it would have taken probably 3 years to pay out the difference in payment... and I'd have a GT500.

then you'd have a car anybody can walk into a dealership and buy. You should have a lot of pride in your car. You've done what most can't.

Adding the supercharger was the best mod I have ever done to a car, period! I actually had ordered a CAI/tune set-up (and was actively shopping for UD pulleys and delete plates) and before I even had it installed, changed my mind and just said screw it (literally!!). The CAI went up for sale and I ordered the E-force.

And over the course of a weekend, my car was transformed and I can proudly state "I installed myself". Mine is also not a DD and especially now with the blower, everytime I take it for a ride, a never ending smile forms on my face

The great thing about going FI is you can quickly add a lot of HP and have no impact to drive-ability as you can still get 20+ mpg until you jump on it. Enough said!

ya mine is a daily driver and its making 426 rwhp its a lot of fun, i do wish it was a roots blower though after driving my buddies. the instant torque is so much fun. but if its just your toy i dont think 400 would be enough for me lol

Once you hit 400, then you want 450... it is like crack

I am already getting bored with my 420 and making plans to get it closer to 450 over the winter with a new pulley, GT500 pumps and a tune
