Ive read a lot of these forums and I see a lot of guys who are using the off road x pipe and there using them as daily drivers also. are they switching out the mid pipe before they take it in for emissions? How are they getting around it?

Most likely they don't have an emissions check.

Just an FYI here, moving the location of cats violates federal emissions laws, so does replacing them if they aren't defective.

so what is my best option then with dealing with exhaust, i don't want to put on shorty headers because i feel they wont give me much horsepower.

If you aren't willing to do shorty's that you can't change your headers. You will fail a smog check with long tube headers because of the visual inspection. And there is no way an off road pipe will ever pass smog, you need cats. You can do what i've done and make friends with some smog shops and have them look the other way or change out your exhaust before you get it checked.
