Default BlowByRacing Stage 1 Cams?

A few questions...

1. Has anyone installed BBR's Stage 1 cams (regrinds)? They are NSR and do not require limiters or lock-outs.
2. Are there any disadvantages to getting the regrinds? I'm not sure I like the idea about using the shims.
3. How would they compare to Hot Rod cams? My other choice (they sell them as well).
4. Would CMDP's make a big difference in power with either of these cams? I prefer to keep the charge motion plates but will add this mod if it will make a noticable difference.

BlowByRacing is local to me and I have heard good things about their work. They have a dyno and perform dyno tuning at their facility.

I would either get them to dyno tune it or get a Brenspeed email tune. Opinions?

Thanks in advance...
JD

It's been a while since I have asked about these cams myself but I had gotten information that you want to stay away from the regrinds. You get what you pay for kind of thing. I believe the stage 1's are very similar to the hotrods on specs, the stage 2 is pretty radical on the duration by comparison to most stage 2's. From what I have read it seems like maybe 5-10 rwhp is about what you would see with the CMDP's. This is all second hand info I've gotten from others so take it for what it's worth.

I was a little leary of the shims. I see that they offer a billet Stage 1 cam. Any one install or have opinions about these cams?

i haven't read about anyone being disappointed
with BBR stage I's or II's. if i were in the market
for cams, the BBR's would be at the top of my
list.

Hammeron - I see that you have the FRPP Hot Rod cams.
Why would you put BBR Stage 1 cams at the top of your
list? I am between these two cams...

There's a lot of people with experience of BBR cams on s197forum and BBR is a vendor there. They all say excellent things about BBR and their cams. Their tunes sound like they're some of the best too from what I read on there.

BBR stage 2 cams sound SICK.

maybe i should have said, if i didn't
want hot rods, then the BBR's would be
at the top of my list.

i love my hot rods don't get me wrong.

the fact that BBR is local to you and that
they might be doing your tune, is a win win
situation and i don't think you can go wrong.

I think it would be best for them to dyno tune it (and maybe install too). I'd go to BBR if I lived near them in FL.

I have the stage II's from BBR, along with their Heads. You can hear them by searching my screen name on youtube. I'll be getting another dyno tune soon after adding a couple more mods (EWP & DS).
