Need some advice...dont mean to be a newb but with some of these times posted with stock cars I am pretty embarrased to post my times. I have been goin to the Strip pretty regularly for about 4 years now, I know my way down the 1/4 mile. But for the life of me the best 60' i can get is 2.21. Now that is with FRPP 4.10s and 18" fact. wheels with the stock Bfgs. The track I go to isnt the greatest but it is only 25 mins from my house and generally not alot of people go so you can get a decent amoutnt of runs in...heres what i ran 5 times(in cronological order)[]
60'=2.3270 1/4=14.450 ET=99.11mph
60'=2.2870 1/4=14.103 ET=101.12mph
60'=2.2399 1/4=14.010 ET=100.88mph
60'=2.2391 1/4=14.062 ET=100.48mph
60'=2.2111 1/4=14.0059 ET=100.96mph
Today wasnt the greatest day to go to the Drag strip, but it was my first chance to see what the 06' had and i jumped on it. Only to be dissapointed. The mods are listed in my sig.

I also was concerned with the shiftin now that i have the 4.10s I have to shift into 4th sometime before the end of the track. Can some one give me some advice there. I read somewhere that because of the powerband and the 4.10s its good to shift into 4th @ 6000rpms.
Oh this has been the technique that i used so far:
1. Slip the clutch from a starting point of 2200rpms and acclerate hard(as long as the tires bite)
2. Shift to second @6350rpms(tried not lifting to shift the first time and i just spun like crazy through 2nd)so just Quickly shift to 2nd
3.shift into 3rd in the same manner@6350rpms(hard to speed shift into third still) then take third all the way up to 6000rpms and speed shift into 4th. about that time i am through the trapps.
Critique my approach if need be. I am diffenately still gettin use to the S197 drivability. (only got 4k on her)

A good way to get some better ET's is to barely stage the car, kinda tickle the 2nd stage light. This gives you a better roll out and helps the ET. I bring my car out a little harder also, I will slip the clutch from around 3500rpm. A tiny bit of tire screech, almost wheelhop. It's kinda hard and takes practice, and I still don't do it perfect everytime by no means. I don't lift off the gas and shift with a swift kick of the clutch and ram the shifter as fast as I can. Something to remember while powershifting, it's about quickness, not force. You can easily overtravel the shifter and hurt your tranny without a aftermarket shifter. Practice is the best thing to do. Keep the car as cool as possible also, these cars are pretty bad for heat soak and running bad after that. I cool my inlet tube and mass air meter in between runs, and try to let the car cool for as long as possible before I make a pass. Hope this helps, good luck.

I'll try that(clutch slip @3500rpms) but it is lookin like i will have to go to a different track because the track i go to dosent seem to have the best 60' as far as traction goes[X(]....And i will definately try icing the intake next time

Try going to a track on a night that cars with slicks are running and laying down some good rubber on the starting line. That always helps because they will prep for the big boys if you know what I mean. I know you would not get near as many passes, but they will be better quality ones.

don't worry dude. . . you pulled about the same times i did stock . . .
i pulled three 14.0's my first time to the track and never bettered it the first time. . .
here's what you do to get better at take off, because that is obviously your prob. . .
like Vista said. . . keep the RPM's WAY UP. . . the POWER goes to the ground via the clutch. . . not the throttle . . .
another thing. . . bogging is bad. . . this is why you keep the rpm's up. . . try to never bog. . . stay above 3500 at all costs(usually the clutch is the cost :-)
barely tripping the "Staged" light, which is the second one. . . vista mentioned this, it actually helps. . . you can then take off on the last yellow instead of green, helps the reaction time too
last thing. . . to slip the clutch. . . there is a sweet spot in the clutch about halfway out . . . its where the clutch catches pretty hard . . . hit that spot when you take off, but don't go too far past it just yet. . . let the car rock back and squat the rear. . . then slip it out slowly holding that rear down. . . thats how ya do it . .

1.9 to 2.0 60fts should be what your getting. . .
Thanks, I will try that...I am thinking about goin to National Trails Racway(its closer than Norwalk and that other track in Xenia)Not that far of a drive from work. And alot better track compared to where i currently race at
