Yeah, some lightweight wheels and exhaust, could be flirting with 11's.......

Hey me and some of my friends will be riding up to Mason Dixon Dragway in MD on the 2nd if anyone is interested in going. Got a few stangs shooting for 12's N/A on stock tires and maybe a quicker one..........
dude i just looked at your sig. you did not cut 1.7 60' on stock tires did you?

I sure did on more than one occasion run 1.78 60fts on my stock Pirelli tires.
that is just insane!!! you must be one of the best drivers around then!!
apparently goes to a very well prepped track too. . . he couldn't pull those at my track. . .he said so himself

acutally i wanna know what he ran with that 60' time. which mods.. as black06GT said, it is all about track preps.. i have been to byron and US41 and i cut 1.9ish 60' at byron a few times and at US41 i cut 2.0 60' all day and people told me that US41 is stickier and better track preps.. and for some reasion i cut better 60' at byron.

i am getting m/t streets and i am really worried of my rear end or clutch to rev up to 5000 rpm and dump the clutch..

those are relatively close though. . . i've gotten 1.9's @ my track before when they had a larger croud. . . but when it was slim crowd. . .no prep and 2.0's was all i could muster. . .

i've never gotten close to 1.7's though, thats just crazy. . .

I got the 60fts. to 1.78 using nitrous, but I have gotten several (more than 10) in the 1.85 range. The quickest N/A 60ft was a 1.843 @ Kanawha Valley Dragway near Pt. Pleasant, WV. I ran my personal best 60fts. on a 100shot at Darlington, SC @ Mustang Week this past summer in 100 degree weather, and little track prep. I also duplictaed the 60ft at my local 1/8th on Thursday night/street night and virtually NO track prep. I have pumped the front tires up to around 45psi and let the backs down to 29psi. I barely do a burnout, and I shallow stage. My best 1/8th is a 7.84 @ Kanawha Valley Dragway here in WV. The best time I've had this car on the 1/4 mile was at Darlington, and I ran a 7.95@ 1/8th and a 12.31 @ 112.96mph 1/4mile. In good air it would go faster! My friends that went up to Mason Dixon improved thier personal bests dramatically in the good mine shaft type air, and a racer friendly DA of below -500....I didn't get to go due to money problems. They did manage several N/A passes at 1.81 to a worst of 1.94 60fts that day though. I honestly believe that it's all in practice, experience, and technique to get great 60fts outta these stock tires. With that being said every track will not work with your regualr technique, you might have to make several passes to be able to duplicate your times. Some tracks may just be so bad you can't get a good 60ft., but they are very possible.

I put a set of ET Street Drags on a set of stock wheels and only managed a 1.71 60ft and it hazed my clutch launching it at 5000 rpm. The ET Streets were on for four passes 2 passes on the bottle and two without. I was running a 75 shot and only managed a 8.003 @87.36mph.

The trip I made to Clay City KY was a 3.5 hour drive, and the track was horrid! It had rained heavily all morning and it was a street night that only about 12 cars showed up so the track prep was some of the worst I've seen. I figure they didn't plan on anyone showing or the rain would scare everybody off. I managed one sub 2.0 60ft there, a 1.95 on my stock tires.

My mods are C&L CAI and 91 octane standard N/A tune from Evolution, and a 93 octane NOS tune from Brenspeed if it's really cold, or I have over 1100psi bottle pressure. It's just a safer more nitrous friendly tune. The one from Evolution is dangerous and I wouldn't advise anyone else to try what I have done. It is not for nitrous, but I felt brave a few times and it hasn't hurt a stock plug yet.....

You should be, you'll wear it out quick doing that. That's the price you pay to go fast.

5000rpm launches on sticky tires are detremental to the stock clutch. I have hazed mine pretty bad at the track with a set of ET Streets and 4 launches.

We ran at the track with the AOD, it was the first test for it, We raced on the street tune launching at 1500RPM's (New Tranny). My tuner ST MOTORSPORTS is going to do some adjustments to the car and we are going to try the race tune (110 octanes)... Lots of adjustments need to be made, the transbrake, overdrive and the temp gauge for the tranny were not working yet. As soon as the car is ready I'll be trying the transbrake and i'll be launching at 4500 rpm's

Here are some times
60 foot 1.812 / 7.751 1/8 of a mile
60 foot 1.898 / 7.702 1/8 of a mile
60 foot 1.857 / 7.819 1/8 of a mile

Man this cold and snowy weather sucks! No new posts in my favorite section. Is anyone else itching for the local tracks to open up until we can get some new times posted?
