Okay, Shelby helps design a GT500 with a power adder on it but decides NOT to go turbo when Subaru and a host of others all go that route. Given a clean slate what made him go with a supercharger then? Yeah, I know... he doesn't know anything about cars.

Cheaper, easier to mass produce in a reliable manner for high-hp apps. Traditional domestic buyers feel superchargers are superior. Lots of reasons.

1Quickshortbus - have you compared your Powerhouse dyno charts with those from Hellion? Is yours coming in earlier?

Thanks

Umm you do realize the number of things you need to do before you even think about running 11 seconds..

- Full 6-12pt roll cage
- Upgraded brakes
- Entire new rear end
- New clutch \ tq converter
- Can't say much for the transmission, but it would imagine syncros need to be upgraded at the least (if your manual)
- New drive shaft
- A bunch of gauges
- Rear wheels/tires

Am i missing anything? Those things above cost more than the turbo setup itself.. and are critical to drive the car anywhere even close to those times..

There haven't been enough posted results to be able to make a comparison, I think they come in about the same time.

A couple additional notes on the Hellion system: The Hellion system is nice but comes with a couple disadvantages, it includes a small turbo (that to upgrade adds $695 to the cost) it also doesn't come with any sort of fuel system upgrade other than the injectors. At a minimum a BAP is needed. So with a simple BAP and a turbo upgrade it pushes this "inexpensive" kit to ~ $6000 it's not as economical as people think.

I know that Hellion is trying to obtain CARB status for their S197 system but I have NEVER seen an aftermarket turbo system actually receive CARB exemption status.

Actually you are completely wrong.

1. Not needed until 11.50
2. Why stock brakes are more than sufficent to haul these cars down after a 1/4 mile run even into the low 10's at over 130mph proven time and time again.
3. The only real weak link is the differential not everything as you make it out to sound.
4. New clutch.... no PowerHouse is running 10.30s at over 131mph with 1.4x 60' times on a stock clutch. Torque convertor... no it's fine too well into the 11s proven over and over again.
5. Transmissions are holding up fine, the input shaft is the weak link. But again PowerHouse with thier 1.4x 60's are still on the stock trans.
6. Driveshaft will be needed as eventually the stocker will twist.
7. No you don't need a bunch of gauges only ones that are necessary are boost and a wideband maybe a fuel pressure gauge if you want it.
8. Rear tires are a given but it is possible to run in the 11s on stock tires.

So I only really agree with you on the driveshaft.... you might want to do more research on these cars before making all of these statements.
