I've had both the 4.0 and the 4.6

If it wasnt for the transmission in the manual 4.0, I would probably still have it. For a $18k car, you cat beat it. fun to drive, takes to modifications like crack, and looks damm good.

So why did I switch to the V8? Easier to drive (manual vs. manual), sounds better, and I got a killer deal.

Ford hit the nail on the head with ALL of the s197's. Sure they could have done a little better here or there, but have you ever heard of a US domestic manufacturer getting a car 100% correct the first time after a redesign? I cant think of one that comes any closer than this one.

For under 40K, I have a car that looks DAMN GOOD and blows most cars off the road. I mean, how much power do you really need on the street? I have 520+ at the crank on a very conservative tune. There is a point of diminishing returns on a street car.

In any case, these 4.6s have tremendous power potential. If my current pony count no longer gives me the jollies, I can always throw in some forged internals and turn up the boost.

The Mustang has been the success it is because it appeals to a very broad market. The LS1 Camaros died because they were marketed to mostly the power junkies.

For those of us that want more oomph out of our Ponies, there is huge aftermarket support.

Too much is just about right.

Power is like money - no such thing as too much.
