BBK CAI and TB installed, Idleing high?
#3
BBK claims it doesnt need a tune. i used the BBK 62mm TB. I put about 100 miles on it yesterday with 89 octane. When you let off the gas it sometimes takes a while to idle back down and usually stays at 1200 for a few seconds. it then drops to 800 or so. Could the TB just need to "break in"? Is it sticking? No CEL's or other issues. Exhaust (H-Pipe and FlowMasters) sounds mean as hell though!

You don't need to have a tune with the BK TB. It will idle a bit higher because it is bigger than your stock TB. I wouldn't worry about it; especially if you have a tuner on the way. You can just set your idle rpm when you tune.

Its starting to stick a little around 2k now. Can I drill a new hole for the Spring to ride in to increase the tension slightly? Woudl that be too much for the motor or jack with the computer any?

I had the same thing happen with my BBK CAI and TB. I bought it and the SCT X3 tuner package from brenspeed, but I tried driving it around without installing the 89 tune first. When I loaded the tune up, My idle speed went back to about 7-800 rpm [normal] range. JMO, but I would say, get a tuner for it regardless of what they say about no tune required. You have a performance part, compliment your purchase with the tuner. To me there was a noticable difference in the overall feel of the power from the new tune versus just the CAI. Crisper throttle response, more power, etc. Beside, eventually, when you add more stuff, a tune will be required anyway. So get the flash tuner part out of the way now.
