Default Tune a Ram Air without CAI?

I don't have a CAI yet, but have a Cervini ram air hood with duct work, and a n AFE high flow air filter, but know that still does not compare to a CAI.
I just purchased an SCT FS3 and it is on its way. Will I be able to flash for my setup to get at least a little more air ratio going or should I not touch it without the CAI?

thanks

You will not get the CAI effect without a CAI kit. The benefit comes from the larger air flow inlet between the CAI cone and the throttle body.

And cervini's kit is not compatible with aftermarket CAI kits, BTW.

ok, thanks.
I actually was hoping to use something like a Weapon-R secret weapon with the 3 inch hose that can be run down to my ram air box. we will see when the time comes.
Thanks agian

I'd check with Bama or Brenspeed but my suspicion is that they'll recommend a typical CAI and tunes and that the only benefit, if any, of your ram air would be a few degrees of cooler air under the hood. But they might have something up their sleeve to make use of the air. Problem is, you're internally limited on the amount of additional air that would be of any benefit.

Sorry, I've never been a fan of ram air hoods...

...This seems to be the most effective way of getting "ram air" on our Mustangs.

Exactly. Even though the C in "CAI" is for "cold", its not the temperature that is giving us gains. It is the air flow. A ram air hood setup on a stock airbox still has pretty much the same airflow characteristics as a stock car.

Agreed, but isn't the point of ram air an attempt to keep constant pressure rather than the dreaded vacuum that occurs in the intake manifold causing a drop in horsepower.
As I understand, ram air is not for hp gains, but to prevent hp loss.
I will definately go CAI, but I still want it to function with the ram air factor so that it is keeping decent pressure over 40mph or whatever that article said that i had read.
I know I shouldn't believe everything I read, but it sounded techy :-)

That was completely frustrating! The SCT SF3 manual says to remove the fuel pump and fan fuses before flashing. The mustang manual said that the battery should be removed before doing that...
It just seemed kind of rediculous, but perhaps it is an attempt to prevent flooding from turning the key off/on.

I just went ahead without pulling them and it worked fine, so I hope that doesn't get me labeled as an idiot.

Ok, so next question since I now have just flashed it for my 4.10's :-)
Since I do not have a CAI yet, should I just not mess with anything, or are there options that I should check out, like WOT tune etc. I would love to read about this, but honestly, the manual is very inadequate and I can't really find anything else out about it online.

EDIT: Sorry guys, I didn't even see the sticky:
