great thread, I'm waiting to see what my bonus looks like to see if I go with gears next or with Kooks LT's. I know that the gears are a lot less money but if I've got the money I may take advantage of it and get the LT's installed. I would like to keep mine NA so my wish list is short - CAI (got it), tune, 4.10 gears, Kooks LT's & X pipe with high flow cats, and either the Thumper Cams or the FRPP cams.

Mustang Matt,

You're right, the shop owner said that usually the jump from 3.31 to 3.73 will result in a lower dyno reading by around 4-5hp across the board.

How much does the install change the mpg when going from 3.31 to 3.73?
I've heard it helps a bit and hurts alot?

Which is it?

I average 22 mpg on 4.10s. About 300 miles per tank.

i drive 27 miles one way, of that i say about 3 miles is in town the rest is highway. On the highway i go 60-65 mhp, that usually keeps me around 1700-2000 rpms.

Ok, 60-65mph makes complete sense. I notice that once I dip into the 70's, my mpg starts to drop hard. 75 to 80 is lucky to see 19mpg by the end of a tank and over 80mph is down around 17mpg. This includes very little city driving, roughly 10%.

Hey OP-
Would you say that shorty headers/delete plates would result in a 20 whp gain??

I'm sure he would say no. he got shorty headers(5rwhp), UDP's(4rwhp), and a catted Bassani x-pipe(4rwhp) peak output only went up 13rwhp/6rwtq... if he did do gears at the same time he might have gotten a little more from each mod..
It is rare for people to get much over 5 rwhp out of shorty headers, the stock manifolds flow really well as it is.. usually you'll see better gains from them after you've done atleast cams if not heads or F/I.. only people ive seen with 15rwhp gains were in the 400-500rwhp range.

Your delete plates might get you 5rwhp if you are lucky.

Get the Long Tubes! woot! Macs are fairly cheap and work well.. I still want Kooks
