Default Thumper cams

Is it required to have 3.73 gears or higher to install the Thumper cams? I know the performance would not be as great as if it had the 3.73's or 4.10's but what I would like to know is if it would hurt my car. I plan on putting the 4.10's in around November but would like to install the cams next month. If it will hurt the car then I will go ahead and get the gears first and get the cams at a later date. I just have the money now to get the cams and am afraid that if I do not get them now I will spend the money on a whole bunch of other stuff for the car that I could probably live without.

I dont know the answer. But I'm sure if you call Brenspeed. They can tell you what support mods you will need with the cams.

It will be fine. I know a guy who has these cams on his 06 gt with stock gears and stock headers.

your low rpms will just have no power. once you get up high you will be fine. i would go ahead and do gears man but hey its your money. you wont hurt the car i dont think just lose a lot down low.

Basically what Barker said.

You may lose some low end torque, but you power band will not fall off as fast as stock cams. The reason for the 4.10 gears isn't due to damaging your car, but to compensate for the loss of torque down low.

I'm suppose to be getting some frpp hotord's installed this week. woo hoo
