Default gear question

ever since i had 4.10s installed i have had a whine problem. the gears had been replaced 4 times and they whined everytime. so the shop refunded me my money and swapped in a whole untouched rear end with factory 3.31s. my car is a 07 so 3.31s is what i had in the first place. i was wondering if there will be a big diffence in et at the track from going back to 3.31s?

i currently have jlt, sctx3, tune by jms, steeda economy plates, steeda udps, upr or x pipe, powerhouse ds, bmr lca's, bmr adjustable uca, and 275 40 17 nitto 555r's. with the 4.10s but before the uca and ds my best was a 12.99@107. i coulda have done better on the 60' since it was only a 1.91 and the heat/humidity down here is killer.

There is a big difference at the track with 4.10s, but only if you are modded for traction. Your trap speed will drop some with the 3.31s, but your ET will probably stay the same.

hows so? i ran a 13.36@106 with just a jlt, tune, and x pipe. than was with 3.31s, stock pirellis, and a 2.1 60' in the same weather conditions as the 12.99. i wouldnt see how the longer gears would lower my trap.
