I talked to my friend on the phone today and he told me his '05 was acting up earlier... lights were flashing (headlights, dash lights), his fuel said empty, and he couldn't put his car into gear... I figured I'd help him out and ask you guys, what can possibly be the problem? Computer related? I have an '00 V6, so I'm not too sure what's going on with his... I'm going to get it checked out with him tomorrow...

When mine went bad, I took a fan to dry it out. Then took it to the dealer and got it fixed. Apparently, there is some sort of drain that gets plugged up, or at least thats what Ford told me. There is a TSB on this and it is covered. Your friend shouldn't have to pay anything.
My car flooded my whole passenger area.1 inch on the floor took it to Ford they said pine needles and leaves and a lot of rain caused the problem. They replaced the smart box an I think rerouted something and put a screen in to stop the leaves from building up. My alarm went off at 4 in the morning had to discconect with no wrench nor flashlight lol Can you say hammer. This might of happened when I took a creek too fast and water flew over the hood. Interior was ripped out to allow floor to dry but there was also some welding done up under my right side dash also pertaining to this leak. Was all free under Ford warranty-D

Ok well I went with my friend yesterday and they said the check engine light cleared and he got a new battery. However today the light came back and he brought it back. He wanted me to ask you guys... Sears said it was the idle control system... I noticed his car did sound a bit below usual RPM's. What should he do?
Replacing the battery would cause the adaptive learning to reset (normal) IF the battery was disconnected long enough. That in itself will cause a rough idle until the PCM relearns some of the parameters (which could take 10 miles or more).
