Default Gears Install @ Ford

I just purchased, over the weekend, a set of 4.10's from Brenspeed. I'm wondering, will a Ford dealer install these for me? They are FRPP after all. Also, would they recalibrate the ECU for the different gearing?

Thanks for any replies.

The Ford dealer WILL install these. But they will charge an arm and a leg. Most dealers will charge upwards of $900 to install. Most aftermarket shops like us only charge $300 if you bring your own gears.

The dealership has what is called the "WDS" and can only calibrate up to 3.73 gearing through the stock ECU. You will more than likely need a Predator as well. But realize the benefits of what the tuners can do aside from just gear calibrations. Where are you located??

I'm located in Western Maryland. I'm actually planning on ordering a BBK CAI + Tuner from Brenspeed later this week.

So I should just wait until I have both to have the gears installed, then?

Does anyone know of a shop closer to Maryland than Woodbine? Maybe one IN Maryland? Haha

Again, all help appreciated!!

Oh whoops, that's Woodbine, MD, not Woodbine, VA! Thanks so much, I'll give them a call!

hey, on a side note for you, I had that BBK CAI and it was very nice, however if your going to get the tuner with it anyway, I would snag one that has a 90 mm mass air (like steeda as one example, but there are many more) Maybe consider Bama chips, IMO if your staying naturaly aspirated for a while, I think what they do with there race tunes does amazing things to your throttle response.

Definitely appreciate the advice. I've heard the same about BAMA's throttle response. I've also heard the wait for BAMA tunes is outrageous at the moment, though.

The reason I was going to go with Brenspeed, is all I ever hear are good things about them. People with superchargers constantly saying - hey, I went for a custom tune, and the tuner said he couldn't even improve it! - Thing's like that, are really aiming me at Brenspeed. Plus, everything I've ever ordered has come from them

My dealer quoted me about 700 to do gears. He told me that's parts and labor. Which sounds about right if you figure 400 is labor, gears are like 175, then you have 125 left for the install kit and fluid. Seems reasonable I guess.

There's a performance shop nearby (they don't do the tuning though, that's sent to Mike Murillo) that quoted me 450 for labor.

sounds like you have future plans too?? Get the steeda with a SCT tuner, and you can shave a good amount of money off a Saleen kit down the road ;-)
