Default Are Nitto 555 any good at drag strip

I'll be ordering some drag radials for my car soon, but in the mean time my street tires are killing me. I run a 13:30 @ 112 with 60ft around 2.2 with tons of tire spin. I have some 245/40/18 nitto 555 tires on a project car that has been sitting in my garage for a few years now.

Would the 555 tires help with my traction problems until I can get some new drag radials or slicks? The season is almost to an end here and I would like to go out one more time, but the spinning is starting to take the fun out of it.

Thanks
pt

The Nitto 555R tires would be an improvement, but for a better hook you would probably do better with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials.

I've gone a couple times to the strip on my street tires (which are nitto555), its pretty pointless.

Me too ^^^ I went last weekend with my 555 street tires and I was still spinning my tires and making smoke at least 70-80 ft from the tree. I took it easier after that out of the hole but all my times suffered.

I love them for streets but next season I will be running drag radials or stayin home.

555R are not to bad.... but if its a track only tire... MTs or M&H DRs are much better

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction.
