Default Comp Cams XFI

Did a search and didn't find a single hit?

Everyone spends the extra $$ for the FRPP?

not everyone....

depending on what you want out of your cams,
the NSR 127200 and the VSR 127300 are fairly
popular choices.

for pure sound, the choice recently has been
thumpers or hot rods, with the BBR's in the
mix as well.

I'm getting the Comp XFI NSR Stage 2 cams installed next week (Oct 16th) with Pypes LT headers and catted h pipe, at Brenspeed's shop. Brenspeed was at the NMRA All Ford World Finals in Bowling Green, KY and i got to hear a couple cars with the Comp Cams in them and they sounded very good. They did not have a car there that had the Thumpers tho, but from what i listened to i think i like the sound of the 127200 NSR stage 2s better. If i was going to be putting new heads on my car i would go with the VSR Stage 2 or SPR stage 3. The SPR stage 3 with ported and polished heads and LTs sounds REALLY good to me. I just cant justify the price for the heads and cams and then the price for installation. Anyways, I'll make a new thread with videos after i get my headers and cams installed, if anyone would like to hear it.

The XFI NSR cam (127200) is one of my favorite cams for a N/A car. They are very affordable since no springs or limiters are required. On a stock car, we saw gains of 20 rwhp peak to peak and 31 hp gains at 6200 rpm. They have a little more lope than stock and maintain stock drivability.

What is your feeling about the suggestion of 3.73 gears or higher with the 127200 cam? My car came with 3.55s and I don't want to step up to 4.10, but 3.73 or 3.90 seems like sort of a waste from where I already am. I am also having the heads CNC'd so hopefully that will help make up for the loss of low end torque....

If u want to port your heads 4.10s are going to be your best friend. Porting the heads will make you lose more down low. 4.10s will compensate

I guess I will find out soon enough. I just spoke with my tuner today. I dropped the car off one month ago yesterday, and the heads have been with the machinist for three weeks now. Hopefully, by next weekend I'll be driving it again. I had the tuner do a baseline dyno, so I will be able to tell exactly where I gain/lose the most power. I'm beginning to get anxious, and so is my tuner......My car has his lift tied up until the heads come back.
