First things first...A big thank you to my technical
advisor BruceH. BruceH answered all of my questions
and offered some really excellent tips along the way.
Also, thanks to the forum for providing a great place
for people to share information.

For those interested, here are a few pics of the build,
along with the current status.

Current Status:

The project is complete and the engine is holding up well.
As far as how the Aluminator feels on the street when not in
boost, it feels just fine to me.

At 250 miles, I put her on the dyno. I consider the car broken
in for the most part and now it's time to enjoy the fruits of my labor.


I think that this is definitely a DIY job, for those who have a garage
or a shop to work at. Even though I read and read and read some more,
there was a point during the build where I felt I bit off, more than I
could chew. If you are a non mechanic like me, line someone up on
the side who will be your go-to-guy, incase you run into trouble or
just have questions.

Awesome man!! Looking foward to you completing the project and seeing how the compression drop effects you break-in horsepower with the same whipple tune. Are you going to run the same pulley size as you had before on break-in?

thanks and i will be running the same pulley
for breakin, 3.375 (gen I, 10psi). i too am
really interested to know how it feels on
the street, with the 8.7:1 and the stock
whipple tune.

I still think you knew more about the motor before you started than I did after doing mine.

Wow, please keep us informed and pics would be great. I have been thinking about adding this as part of a saleen sc upgrade and I am mostly worried about the total cost of adding both. I would really like to add the aluminator but I'm still on the fence. Mainly thinking about all the work and costs for install.

brad281, no need to do both the s/c and shortblock
at the same time. enjoy the s/c for a couple of years,
then maybe upgrade the engine, if you feel it
necessary.
