Default Horizontal Play in Hurst Shifter

Hey guys I have a quick question.

I have the new billet hurst shifter and over the weekend I noticed that I have about a 1/4" of play in each direction horizontally in the shifter when it is in gear. Its primarily 3rd and 4th. Is this an issue or due to loose bolts? I never really noticed it before and have had it installed for probably 5000 miles. The car seems to drive ok.

Thanks,
Andrew

I have a Hurst billit and it has almost no play at all I sure would check the bolts. Did you use locktite? I did. Let us know what you find out!

mine has a touch of play, I know the bolts are tight so it has to be the bearing. plenty of people complain about noise in the shifter and I think it's from the bearing so a little play in there so it's not uncommon.

mine has the touch of play but it doesn't hurt anything.

Ok thanks guys. I'll get it up on a lift hopefully this week and check the bolts. That slop may have always been there I just never noticed it, and like I said it seems to drive fine so hopfully I am just being paranoid.

Thanks Again

I wouldn't worry about it, it's there on mine and never caused a problem. actually all my shifting issues were solved with a k-member brace with the torque limiters, perfect shifting now!

yeah im sure its nothing more than a loose bolt if that at all. Im going to put it on some ramps later this afternoon just to double check. I have heard the K member is the way to go if you want a firmer ride in general. Im definately going to look into getting one this summer.

What type of shifting problems were you having before the k member?

Just a comment about that steel bearing making noise when the rpms climb, take both of the boots off from the inside of the car and put a healthy gob of marine lith. grease on top of the bearing. Pep Boys carries it.
