Stainless works long tubes headers for 2007 gt
Hey all! Its been forever since I posted due to money being nonexistent in my life for quite some time. I have an opportunity to buy a set of really nice (brand new) stainless works long tubes for my gt and a buddy is willing to let them go for 400 bucks! Its a good deal on paper, but I need some tech help. Unfortunately, everything I have read says these are a big set of headers that only work well with big horsepower or blown engines. My girl only has a Steeda CAI and exhaust from midpipe back made by SLP. I have a great speed shop in town that can get them on and tuned, but my fear is that I will be losing to much back pressure to make the rwhp gains expected when putting a long tube set on. My other option is to just be patient (which I suck at) and buy the SLPs to match my midpipe and loudmouths. Any suggestions or advice from the well educated community we have going on here???
Thanks in advance!!!

The LT's by themselves provide a very minor RWHP gain but noticeable to some. Any other exhaust work with the LT's won't yield much more, if anything. The tune is only needed to turn off the rear O2 sensors and will not add to the LT's HP gain. But if you don't already have a tune, that'll be your bang. But since the Steeda requires a tune, I'll assume you have one already and simply need the O2's turned off.
IMO, I'd do the LT's along with cams. That combo adds about the same RWHP (roughly 20-25) as a good CAI & tune does.

They will work for your application great! As with most Mustangs the computer is VERY under tuned from the factory so along with the headers you will want to do a tune as well. But to answer your question they are NOT too big for your application.
Everyone- Thanks for the compliments!!

Sounds like this plan may work. I dont want to get screwed on installation either. Anyone have a ballpark on how much it would cost to get these long tubes installed and tuned on a decent dyno? Or do I even need a dyno tune? Thanks for all the help guys, its good to be back on here talking shop!

Well it sounds like a good idea to install them but to be honest I dont know if I have the tools to do the trick. I have a pretty good relationship with my shop in town and dont think they will charge me much more than a few hundred bucks with custom tune included so might go that way. If I did install them it might be tricky cause my SLP midpipe wont fit directly into the collectors (or at least I dont think they will).
