Default 2005 - 2010 C&L 3-VALVE MUSTANG INTAKE MANIFOLD

Hi,
Has anyone heard good or bad things about C&L's new intake for 2005-2010 Mustangs? They claim that it increases RWHP by up to 20 as well as TQ. It is a simple replacement for the plastic stock intake and yes is weighs 15 lbs more due to being made out of aluminum. It costs about $800 and a good mechanic can install in about 20 to 40 minutes. It is kind of like a charge motion delete built in to the manifold but gives much more HP due to its design.

Thanks

I haven't seen real #'s but I suspect it's worth it if you're FI. But if they're advertising up to 20 RWHP that's pretty expensive power, plus it's probably more like 10 RWHP real world. I'd pass until I see more data.

A good CAI & custom tune will net 25 RWHP on a 4.6L GT.

Thanks,
Yes after researching it a bit more I found that other manufacturers are doing the same thing but with more HP and TQ. But I thought that this easy add-on for $800 and 20 additional HP was worth it because adding LT headers, cat-backs, etc., cost more than than if you go Kooks and that gain in the real world is probably about the same. Right?

I look at the intake manifolds as something you upgrade to compliment other mods. Basically I wouldn't do the intake manifold until you've done cams and headers.

go with the frpp manifold. Lots of people have gained a good amount of hp. NA, aroun 20-25 rwhp. Boosted apps around 40-60 rwhp.

I agree with Dyson, it compliments everything else you do.

The intake manifold wont give you much power unless you have F/I or cams and long tube headers.

I heard it gives about 40-50whp depending on your set up. That's pretty awesome since the Vortech V3 HO at 93 oct is right at 450whp, along with the top end parts, thats about 500 to the wheels

or 440 non-intercooled...

Well, according to them, theres no issue. From the website:

The M-9424-463V 4.6L 3-Valve Performance Intake Manifold normally shows flexing of the manifold body during normal operation with some fuel rail movement. Our testing shows this flexing will not lead to premature failure of the manifold, injector or injector gasket. Ford Racing will replace any M-9424-463V 4.6L 3-Valve Performance Intake Manifold that fails due to defects in workmanship or materials within three (3) years of the date of purchase. Proof of purchase will be required for submission of warranty claim
