Default filling up problem

hey so i have a 2006 GT and yesterday when i was at the pump i was having trouble filling up, the nozzle fit in fine but when i tried to give it gas it would keep shutting off like it was full i had to put it in at a really weird angle for it to work. I've heard people have had this similar problem before and was wondering what you guys did to fix it or have any ideas on how to fix it

There's a TSB for that but those that had the work done claimed it didn't always help.

There are some work arounds. Try a different gas station (some pumps are more sensitive than others). Turn the pump nozzle anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees. Slow the delivery as much as possible.

There have been a few rare cases where there was a restriction in some of the tank plumbing.

that's happened to me at a couple gas stations, but it was only certain pumps...so if its ever a must i go to one of those, i have to remember which ones did it, and don't use them

Happens to me on occasion. Usually holding the nozzle at an angle helps but there are times when it doesn't want to cooperate and I have to stop at another station.

I forgot to add that you can also try inserting the pump nozzle about 1/2 way into the filler tube neck along with the other work-arounds.

I had the same problem two weeks ago, just turn the nozzle upside down and it should work. Did you notice that your car started to run rough too and the check engine came on ? Cause I had the same issue then i played around with it and it went away for good

I have the same issue on both an '05 GT and '07 GT500, so Ford didn't fix it.

Turn the nozzle 180 degrees. It works on 90+% of the pumps I use. Do be aware that occasionally this limits the effectiveness of the overflow valve and so you may spill a little bit of gas.
