mysterious exhaust leak

Cool mysterious exhaust leak

i just installed pypes l/t headers about 3 months ago and i have an exhaust leak that i CANNOT find. i have tightened every bolt there is on the headers and flanges and it just seems like its getting bigger and bigger.... is there anything else i need to check?!? help me haha

Check the motor mounts and amek sure you tighten them correctly. If they are not snug then the motor could move back and forth causing a leak.

The leak is probably where the mid pipe connects to the LTs. Loosen them all and try tightening them like you would a wheel on a car, in a star pattern to keep them centered. Sometimes you can buy a conical gasket and place it between the two pipes for easier fitment.

Several people have beleived there was an exhaust leak when in fact it was the LT hitting something on the car, or the noise was just so different they were mistaken. I have done that. Check the steering shaft, both sides of the motor where the primaries wrap around for clearance against the frame rail.
