Are you broke? Fill the damned tank. Running that low makes you that more likely to...:
  1. ...be the moron sitting on the side of the road out of gas.
  2. ...be the moron sitting on the side of the road out of gas that gets hit by another car.
  3. ...suck the garbage at the bottom of the tank into the fuel system, clogging injectors and fuel filter.
  4. ...cause damage to your fuel pump since the fuel is also used as a coolant for the exterior of the pump.
Tell us how far you went before running out of fuel.

I was out on a road trip this weekend and found myself 18 miles from town with 33 miles left on the tank. I'd never run that low before.

Just how accurate is that reading folks?

I found a questionable place about 10 miles out and put 10 bucks in the tank to ensure I got home ok.

I've probably gone about 5 miles because I couldn't locate a gas station that was open in the area at that time of night. I still had a decent amount of gas in the tank (pushed the back of the car, heard fuel smacking around in the tank), I'd wager the car could go about 20 miles like that but as stated above, I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm pretty sure that when it's on "0 miles" you have about 1 gallon remaining
