I think your wasting you money going 2800 stall with a Vortech. Have you ever driven a car with an aftermarket converter? You don't really see that much difference in DD with a higher stall converter. I would give a call to whichever converter company you decide on and work with them. They will build you a converter based on your setup that will give you what ever you tell them are your goals. I would recommend something in the 3200-3400 range with your setup. I have a 3200 PI in mine, I need a little tighter converter with the turbos and you can hardly tell I have a converter until I nail it.

I am more concerned about winter driving issues with the extra slippage of the Torque converter. The Vortech comes off during the winter so it's no issue (long story!). I haven't driven a stalled auto before but if it's anything like people described, it would feel like the trans is "slipping". I doubt that will be good for the winter, but the GT isn't a great winter car in the first place. Don't want to add more trouble than it's worth...

You really hardly notice it with that stall. When you start getting into 4000-5000 stall then yes it isn't very streetable. The higher stall actually works fairly well in the winter as you can just start off in second gear, when you're traction limited, the higher stall keeps the engine from lugging down. It always worked well for me in the past whenever I had to drive in the snow.

Call JDM too, they and brenspeed are the auto trans experts. JDM told me TCI is not good with FI. After doing some research I decided to keep my stock convertor and use it till it breaks. In the mean time I added some LCA's and have a shaftmaster DS in the garage ready to install. With those two mods, I think I can hit 11's. I like the way the stock convertor feels and dropping the trans will be a huge PITA for me. No lift and exhaust is welded in.

Brenspeed has been very helpful with my build and they use the TCI with the there Saleen packaged cars. I have heard it's not a great stall but they use it without problems. So in august I'm gonna get it installed. A guy posted that brenspeed doesn't use them on there Saleen cars but they do. I'm thinking it will be fine bc they race every season and use TCI with success

I've always heard that TCI convertors are bad, but if brenspeed is using them with out problems then I would trust them. When I swapped my trans to a build 5R55S I bought a PI triple disk 3200 stall and love it. Around town I don't really notice it other then the car doesn't roll from a light when I take my foot off the brake as much as it used to. When I launch it, even before the supercharger it was a hug difference.
