I doubt that friction modifier is the problem.
Friction modifier is normally used to make the diff operate smoother (i.e. eliminate chatter) when the two rear wheels need to be turning at different speeds. When you're driving in a straight line, there is no differential action going on so there's no chatter even trying to happen. Assuming that you don't have different size rear tires, anyway.

Yes I put in friction modifier. Jiffy lube probably didn't. After I changed the bearings, I only drove the car long enough to hear the noise again. Would it take a while for the friction modifier to quite the noise ?
