Need Help - Initializing the ECU?
When I replaced the battery, idling got unstable and it stalls all the time.
I heard there's some process I need to do to initialize the ECU?OBD2?
Not sure exactly what to do. Someone please adv...

How many miles have you logged since replacing the battery? The PCM takes about 10-20 miles on occasion for the Adaptive Learning to collect enough data to smooth out the idle. Go out and burn up the streets.

Thanks a lot for quick advice!
Actually some 1 mile after replacement as it severely stalls all the time.
Can't even retain the engine running at idling rpm. I don't think I can
gain so much mileage before new battery runs out for re-starting.
There should be a process for the ECU to recognize throttle position...
Some cars turns the key on, press the gas pedal to the floor, turn the
key off again then turn it back on and start the engine. Not sure about

There is and I can't find it in the OM and I'm doing a search. I'll post it when I find it. The throttle recalibration procedure has been posted dozens of times. I'm just brain-farting trying to find it.

"Turn the key to ON (DO NOT START THE CAR!) and wait till all the normal lights in the dash go out, then slowly press the gas pedal until it is floored and release. Turn the key off, wait about 6 seconds and then start your car. Give it a try.
"This will reset the throttle body settings and give the car a crisper feel. This is not a permanent fix but does help out every so often. Also unplugging you negative battery cable for 15 minutes will reset some settings but is not recommend unless you know what you are doing."

How nice of you to find it out!! Actually I tried but couldn't... Tks a ton!
When replacing the battery, if it takes short, I heard that the throttle
setting will not die. But if it goes some 10mins or longer, it will be lost.
My case, seems it's gone.
It being disconnected anyways, connected, run and throttle recognition
skipped (hence went wrong), I think I will disconnect the battery again
and leave it for a while before giving a try on throttle recognition process.
Hope it works this time... cross fingers!
