Default the best cams??

I've been hearing bad stories about comp cams, i dont know much of it was true but i was wondering.. are the ford racing hot rod cams better to go with? or the comp cams ***** thumprs? which gives better performance and reliability?

also, does anyone know if mac long tube headers will fit fine with an slp catted shorty X-pipe? I have a borla stinger catbak and want it louder, i gotta change the clutch anyway and i gotta cut the stock H-pipe off so i might as well do it all at once.

I think the 2 most popular are the Ford Hot rods and the Brenspeed Detroit Rockers

I installed Hot Rod cams over last weekend. They sound amazing, very noticeable power gains (also did LT's), and zero issues with the install (other than having to buy 2 $16 bolts).
I followed guidance from many helpful posts from this forum + the FRPP instructions; however I did not use the wedge or spring compressor. Install took about 4 hours total.
I dont think you can go wrong either way - Hot Rod or DR.

See link in sig block for youtube vid of the cams...

Go with the Brenspeed "Detroit" Rocker's.

The hotrods and detroits are both great cams. I installed mine in about 5 hours taking my time and had to move alot of things around in the garage to get the car in out of the weather. Just installed hotrods in my buddies car last week and took 2 hours start to finish. No timing chain wedge, no spring compressor.

My buddies: http://youtu.be/YM0X_QViuCE
Mine: http://youtu.be/QjX7iHDOUpg
The sound is a little off on mine but you get the idea

I have the FRPP Hot Rods and love them, my favorite mod. I cannot comment on the rockers as I have no experience with them, but I would vote for getting the hot rods.

The best cams IMHO are the stock cams. I know I might get flamed for this, but just boost your stang with stock cams. You'll make more than enough power. Unless you want a dyno numbers queen or the sound.

Have you had any others to compare to your stock cams?

We had the Hot Rod cams in our 06GT.
LOVED THEM!

We got a dyno tune with them. They made more power with the tune even though it was a tuned car before the cams.

I know you don't have to have one... but I don't see why people do not get a custom tune with them to take full advantage.

Yes the stock cams are fine, but aftermarket cams will add MORE power.
Isn't that what modding is all about for most of us?
Plus you CAN'T BEAT the awesome feel of the of the shaking you get with an aftermarket cam.
SUCH an awesome feeling! REALLY makes the car FEEL like a muscle car!
And the sound of the lope is equally as awesome!

As I said in another thread. Driveability is NOT an issue unless you get a really aggressive cam.
My saying is.. you cant compare to the feeling of a cammed Mustang!

WTF? UNLESS you want a dyno number queen?
WTF does that have to do with anything? Cams give you much more than numbers!

They give you plenty of power that you can FEEL.
They are in NO WAY just about number gain. Again I say.. the power
gained you CAN and DO feel.

Plus they make the car feel unlike any other thing can with a car.
There is much more than just NUMBERS and sound to cams.

I understand the stock cams are plenty good in these cars. No flamming for saying the stock cams are "fine" and "good".
But the aftermarket ones ADD even more. And again driveability is NO issue unless you get an overly aggressive cam.
I don't understand ANY other statement you made in your reply besides the stock cams are good . They hold no weight my friend.
