Default Motorcraft SP514 Spark Plug

Is the new (?) Motorcraft SP514 really a one piece plug for the '05 - '07 4.6L engine?

Sources seem conflicting, but here's a quick thread from a google search:

I'd like to know for sure as well, because if they're one piece that's what I'm going with over the champions. On top of that they'd be cheaper, AND I could get them through good old AM Heck I wonder if anyone with AM would know whether they were or not?

They are the POS two piece. I just put them in today. I followed all the recommendations and the TSB, and still broke three plugs. Who ever designed this should spend their days in hell with a lisle tool up their a!! I hope the nickel anti-seize works, but I will be pulling them again in a few months and replacing them with one piece.

The plugs you broke off were the SP514s?

No, they were original with 83k (I know!) but the SP514's appear identical. You can tell the two piece plugs because there is a gap between the thread body and the bottom tip section. Ford should be ashamed that they never recalled these.

I've heard even the one piece plugs have that little gap though. Look up the champion 7989's and they've got them. I'm really interested in these.

I intend to do a full-ish overhaul on my S197 when it arrives before I start tracking it; having read about the spark plug problems I felt I should deal with it sooner rather than later i.e. during a race meeting.

And does anyone know if the FRPP Set M-12405-3V0 are a 1-piece or a 2-piece set?

Otherwise, some people are saying Brisk, some are saying Champion. What choices do you have if you have a 4.6 3V and want one-piece replacements?

As far as I know, the only one piece choice is Brisk (a race plug with relatively short life. expensive) and Champion (also pricey). I am running Champions and have been for over 50K miles with zero issues. I'll NEVER go back to a 2 piece plug - period.

They stopped using the 2 piece plugs in mid-production '08.
