Default Shifting

Why would it be harder to shift a manual trans with a turbo? I know the big HP guys use some form of auto. If you are under 650HP is there a big advantage? Just curious as having a manual trans is part of why I drive a Mustang.

It isn't going to be harder to shift a manual trans in a turbo car. The problem is when you don't have a decent turbo or the kit isn't an efficent one you will loose boost each time you shift and have to rebuild boost after each shift. A turbo makes boost off of load vs a belt driven by rpm with the superchargers. WHen you shift the engine has no load so the turbo won't make boost. Then after the shift the engine will be loaded again and get back into boost. With a cheap or unproperly sized turbo for you goals, the amount of time to rebuild boost between shifts will be greater. With the new Billet wheels turbos and new turbo technology, and a proper turbo for your goals, this will be basically nonexistant.

A WOT box with no-lift-shift will also elliminate all the lose of boost during shifting.

Again, this isn't like waiting a couple seconds for the boost to come back. With a good billet wheel turbo the boost is going to come back before you even know it was gone.

I probably won't see a drag strip much, but that WOT Box is a great idea. I am sure I will upgrade the clutch if I go F/I with a turbo. That new oil-less Comp turbo looks really neat. I have a e-mail into them asking what the service interval is for changing the high temp grease.
