Belt slipping on Whipple (12 psi)
#12
With the first generation whipple and 3.375 inch pulley, along with 100mm idler pulley and the stock 90mm idler on the stock tensioner, I have the sliding tensioner almost all the way down, so there is no way I could move to a smaller pulley without slipping. These belts stretch after only a few miles.
You can only put so much tension on the stock belt before it snaps, that's why the thumprrr uses a stock spring. It's not really the tension that's the problem, it's the belt stretching and the belt being a little to long in the first place. The stock tensioner ends up bending from power shifting, that's why you see the frankentensioner or thumprr being sold.
If I had a built motor, I'd just pay the $1,000 for the steeda belt drive.
So what size pulley are you using? Is this a 1st gen whipple?

I see it is 122.3 inches. The stock whipple belt is 124.7 with the 3.375 inch pulley. I wonder if the 122.3 inch belt for the kb will work on the whipple.

Don't see why not if you're running a smaller pulley and a 6 rib setup. Might have to change the tensioner pulley back to stock size from the one that comes with the Whipple, but should still give better overall belt wrap.

I really want an 8 rib set up with an overdrive crank. I can use the same blower.pulley and make a few more psi.
KB says that @ 15-16 psi I am at the limit for the 6 rib.
