Default Coolant leak

Hi there,

i have just bought a 2005 Mustang GT V8 4.6.

And now that I have driven my dream car for about a week the first problem occurs.

When I park my car in the garage after driving and checking back later the car has lost about 3/4 of the coolant.

Looking at the coolant case showed me that the case or the cap(both original) seem to be the problem as they are wet and all the coolant drops from there. Could that be? Is this a known problem?

May my engine have pulled air already?

I am afraid what to do next.

Can you guys please help me out?

Beside this i have some general questions i put them in here to avoid another thread:

I can not open my trunk by key only with the remote. What is the Problem here?

My rims do not have locking bolts. Can someone recommend some as I do not want to see my pony standing on bricks?

What OBD-Cable should i buy? And which software do you recommend?

Thank you and Regards

So the key fob won't pop the trunk? Could be your key fob or could be the popper itself

The coolant reservoir cap may just need replacing. Mine failed rather early and needed replacing.

Are your rims stock? No one is going to still stock rims. Well they might, but not likely, because they aren't worth much Not a big market for stock mustang rims. Locking lugs aren't very intimidating to a thief. They can just hammer a socket over them and off they come. Now if you had 5 locking lugs on each wheel, that might make them think twice.

Thanks for your reply moosestang.

The Remote pops the Trunk but if I insert the "normal" Key the Lock won't turn.

I read somewhere that the 2010+ Mustangs Coolant Reservoir cap is better than the 05's?

My rims are the shelby gt 500 ones.

Maybe you have a different trunk lid than the original? Do you have a stock spoiler? The previous owner could have swapped trunk lids with someone with no spoiler or vice versa.

ponycar, with one of my other cars i have what's called "mechanics" keys, they
will not open the trunk or glove box, only the door and ignition. maybe that's
what you have? only a guess....

hope you get it sorted out soon.
