Default Wanting to ram the 06 aftermarket hood

Ive got the 2006 aftermarket symmetric 2 vent hood, and I want to switch it over to full ram air intake. What are my best options to get this done? Is there a kit? I also want to chip this GT that already runs like a gazelle-- any inputs?

there is no chip, never use the term chip. You need a tuner and aftermarket tune. Check www.brenspeed.com, www.bamachips.com, www.evolutionperformance.com, www.americanmuscle.com . All have tuners and tunes for your car.

Ram air is a waste of time unless you are doing 120mph, even then you might see a 1-2psi increase over Atmospheric pressure. Just get a cold air intake and sct tuner.

Do not buy a tuner from a big box store like summit racing. Buy from a mustang specific website.

Yup.

Since you are obviously new to this, read up on the stickies.

The only point of ram air for our cars (and advantage) is cooler air. Using a hood to that end may not get the best results. Instead, look at a kit like WMS High Velocity. My intake temps with the stock box on a 75* day would be around 90*+. Didn't check when summer actually hit. The WMS kit keeps intake temps within a few degrees of the ambient, very useful when it gets warmer. It also looks really cool!

Obviously, you need to read about these cars before jumping blindly into mods that cost you much $$ for little to no gain. Moosestang is correct.

Ram Air is worthless. Chips come in bags. Welcome to the forums. It gets better, lol.

Ram air counts really for one reason as I stated earlier, intake air temps. I did some logging today (I also installed my intake as well) and my IAT's were at or just below ambient. with my stock box, I would usually run 10-30* hotter depending on ambient. I was running a tune before and felt a difference but with this new intake could feel another difference in pull and it was positive!

There is a ram air kit out there that we tune for fairly regularly (WMS). The WMS intake definitely will run a little cooler IAT's, but that being said it's going to do nothing for you. These cars make the same amount of power naturally aspirated, even with a big difference in temperatures.

Hit us up if you need help with tuning. Bama Performance sends out thousands of tunes each month, and alot of them are for the 05-09 3V GT's. We can get you about 30RWHP with a CAI/Tuner combo, and you'll notice a huge difference in throttle response, automatic shift points and firmness, gas mileage improvement and all around performance driveability.

Hope this helps! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 10AM-3PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Chris
