Whats wrong with motive gears why are everyone against them? They are american made gears. Is it cuz they whine? isnt any high gear ratio going to?
I was just kidding. Gear whine is due to improper gear installs 90% of the time and you're absolutely right about higher ratio's whining (primarily on deceleration). They got a bad rapport because people weren't properly shimming which led to gear whine. It's more of a joke than anything at this point. I would still go with Ford Racing over anyone else (as I have with my 4.10s).
After seeing both sets first hand you can tell the difference in quality shifting in Ford Racing's favor. Motive's gears just looked unfinished.
I have motive 4.10s and man do they whine on the decel! We've adjusted it many times and there is absolutely not way to get rid of the whine. Sounds like a damn space ship landing when I let off the gas lol.
