Question Please Help

I have a 2008 Mustang GT and want to doe some minor mods to it. Cold Air intake and Exhaust, which cold air intake gives the best performance and the Exhaust a deep throaty sound, I have about a $1000 to spend. Was told that cold air intakes only give minimal HP unless the car is tuned, should I get a tuner also and if so what kind?

Check out american muscle.

I currently have the air raid racing cold air which does require a custom tune. American muscle has cold air and programmer combo kit's although they are pricey. But it is well within your budget.

A cold air and custom tune is the difference between night and day on your stang. Made a tremendous difference on my 2007.

There isn't really a CAI that is the "best," any one of the tuner/intake combos you can get from folks like American Muscle and Steeda will get your where you want to be. Avoid intakes that claim that no tune is required. The exhaust is subjective, I suggest you listen to Youtube clips and find a local Mustang club where you can hear them to figure out which one you like best.

My advice is to buy a used and unlocked tuner, used CAI, and even used mufflers, provided they're all in good shape. You'll spend half as much and get the same out of them.

I know JLT and Tuneable Inductions put out good numbers for the CAI (with tune)

Thanks didn't know about the tuner, I'm not much of a car guy so how about the throaty exhaust and do you have a preference on CAI

I've tried to listen to different exhausts online but they all seem to be the same!

The CAI & custom tune is the way to go. The tune is the more importnat component of the combo as it's responsible for about 80% of the power gain. A good combo should net you 20-25 RWHP. The better tunes are available from Brenspeed and American Miuscle.

Go with an SCT programmer. Well reputable for mustangs. You won't be disappointed. I'd suggest bama custom tunes from american muscle.
