New 2010 owner i have questions...
I just purchased my 10 GT with 21k miles last night and already am looking for mods. I went and got a K&N off the bat cause the one in the car was crap. ANyways I find out from a friend that he has a full 5.0L exhaust system he wants to part with and I know they were a bit bigger, will I be able to bolt that up under the 4.6L or should I just go out and spend money on a system. Mind you I said Free for the 5.0L system so I'd like to make it work I've heard they are louder than our system.
Also I see that a CAI and tune would be awesome but I'm gonna wait til after the holidays for that goodness. Any other DIY mods to make the current intake flow better besides the K&N? SOrry there are 256 pages here and I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated

Understand that the Ford OE tune on the '10 is basically their Bullitt tune that was on the '08 Bullitt which provides 15 CRANK HP (roughly 12 RWHP) more than the tunes on the '05 thru '09 GT's. A good CAI & tune on the '05 thru '09 yields 20-25 RWHP gain. Since the '10 is identical to the 05 thru 09 except for the tune, a good CAI & tune on a '10 will only yield you roughly 8-13 RWHP, making your '10 the same as a CAI & tuned 05 thru 09. And a stand-alone CAI with the stock tune will only yield about 3-5 RWHP.
That being said, a GOOD CAI & custom tune (from Brenspeed, American Muscle, VMP to name 3 of the better outfits that write decent tunes) would still be a great choice since the average seat-of-the-pants dyno can feel about 5-7 RWHP gain/loss. It's all about the tune and NOT the CAI. Most any CAI with a good tune will suffice. Although you're better off with a tune-required CAI.
I don't believe the 5.0 exhaust will fit your 4.6L. Also, there are no gains to be had on the 4.6L with exhaust changes beyond the factory H-pipe.

with the 2011+ the exhaust system moved to a ball & socket fit system and relocation of the hangers...so you're out of luck.
Without a tune and a dedicated CAI, there's really not much to do to make the intake breathe easier...adding the K&N filter is about it.
You're on the right track tho, intake, exhaust and a tune is a good place to start waking up that 4.6L

I would recommend a 93 Octane tune and an x-pipe from UPR Products. I added them to my 3V and they made a big difference.

That's some great information, thanks.
