you state it has an offroad H pipe, but it has cats, the 05+ only have 1 set of cats on them.

Well I thought it might have been the tune as well but I took it back to the dealership and they said the ECU was bad and that the ford dealership is replacing it. Does that sound about right? Would an ECU work fine sometimes and other times act up? Is the ECU the same thing as the PCM?

to be nitpicky, "ECU" (Electronic Control Unit) is a generic term for any module on the vehicle network; your car has about a dozen different ECUs. "PCM" (Powertrain Control Module) is the name for a specific ECU, which is the one controlling the engine.

and yes, intermittent faults can happen in a PCM. especially heat-related faults.

So in the end it just needed the tune. The dealership ended up taking it to DynoSpeed Racing in Memphis and bought an SCT Tuner(3000) and had dynospeed tune it. Now it's driving great. I'm not sure whether they put it on a dyno and customtuned it or not but its running a 91 octane tune. That's all the sct tuner says about the custom tune. Unfortunately, I guess they locked the tune so I can't see the adjustable parameters. I'm wondering what's the best way to go about figuring out if this car has other mods done to it? Such as headers, aftermarket throttle body, etc. Could I take some pictures and let you guys look at it? I'm wanting to do the custom bama tunes but obviously I don't have the full list of mods. Thanks for all the help!
