The OE equipment on 05-10 were aluminum block, but he has a built block. the cobra block and "boss block" are cast iron 4.6L engines. Since about 2011 if you wanted to start with a brand new block, your only choice was a cast iron 4.6L (unless you bought from a company that had stockpiled new aluminum blocks).

Correct.

There is probably an aftermarket solution to this but the cost would probably be unbelievable. I have considered buying a used long block from someone like LKQ just to have the short block available to me. The bare blocks were going for around $1100 prior to them becoming unavailable.

What are people using as their redline RPM with a forged stock stroke vs forge 5.0L stroker? I am at 6500 (motor cuts power after that) right now.

A stock stroke forged motor that revs to 7.5-8k would be sweet.

I use 7K as the redline on mine, it has a mild stroke 4.75L (will soon be 5.15L with a bore on the same stroke). I think the ECU on the 05-10 has a limit of 7500rpm??? But a higher redline is more of a limitation of the valve springs than anything else once your lower end is forged.

Define better. Lighter, stronger? I don't know much about it so. All I see from e-tailers are comp springs except for livernois.
