The key is a good tune and keeping the revs at or below the stock 6250 rev limiter. I wouldn't recommend anything over 500RWHP for any length of time. and the stock whipple tune for comparison puts down 450-475RWHP and you don't often hear of people blowing up their motors on the stock whipple/ford racing tune.

I seem to be the exception to the rule, but I've been running over 500 rwhp for several years. My car has gone down the drag strip 250+ times. I launch on slicks with a two step and HOOK. My 60' times have been as low as 1.5 and I shift at 6250 rpms. Heads have never been off the motor. Bottom end has never been opened up. Transmission is sealed from the factory. Rear end is stock from the left lug studs to the right. My car WILL. NOT. BREAK. Believe me, I'm trying.

I would be leery with a mechanic telling me that 490 is safe and will last. Maybe I'm reading into what you wrote a little too much. Putting boost to your motor is a gamble and there are no guarantees.

There are tons of guys that have had their motors last a long time with 500 rwhp on a stock motor. And many that have popped theirs immediately upon driving them. Just don't assume anything will be completely safe.

Your biggest thing with the boosted motor will be how and who tunes it.

I made 489rwhp for years on a stock motor, if I remember correctly I was seeing 8-10 psi of boost. Ran 100 octane at the track and a mix of 91 & 100 octane on the street. Stock motor finally let go when we upped the boost to 12-13psi and I was lazy and purchase 100 octane from a pump gas station instead of getting the 100 octane in the 5 gal can from the local speed shop. With that being said, a good safe tune, 8psi, and good gas you should be fine, but there is no guarantees.

And a supercharged engine has to actually make more power than a turbo charged engine or NA engine to deliver the same HP numbers at the rear wheels because that blower takes power to twist and that bottom end has to stand it.

Im sure with enough boost the rods will break but lets say for ****s and giggles 10 -12 lbs of boost gets you around 500 hp .. My car already was putting down 375 hp on a 90 degree day with just cams / bolt ons and i mean every bolt on imaginable with that said 6-8 lbs of boost should be safe on the stock motor in theory that is .. So 6-8 to lbs of boost on a 375 hp car would put me around 550 hp to the tires .. If i wrong then so be it .. And i know for a fact that i will upgrade the bottom end eventually .. But i want to know what the rods can handle period , lol

I have a hard time believing you have 375 even with every bolt on imagine able. Most get about 340 maybe 350 and that's a stretch. The rods will handle as good as your tune. There really isn't a number.
