Default Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaning

I've got two topics out there about my recent entertainment with my CAI system.

I've been coming to this site since '05 and to the best of my memory I do not recall ever seeing anything about cleaning the MAF Sensor. During the last few days of entertainment I ran across a video about cleaning the MAF Sensor every time you change or clean your air filter.

I had my GT since '05 and some 69.4k miles and I have never cleaned the sensor. This morning I went to the local auto parts store and got some "CRC" Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner, special stuff for this thing. Cleaned it. The can said the same thing, whenever you clean for change your air filter, clean the Sensor.

I just got it back from a test drive on the issues my other topics were crying about, and its working good.

I wanted to say that the drive-ability, the "feel" the stop and go "feel" of the car has always made me feel just fine and dandy about the car. But, I will swear with cleaning the MAF Sensor, it just felt better. i don't know how to quantify it, just better. So if cleaning your MAF Sensor hasn't been one of the things you do, give it a shot!

incidentally, the Sensor by no means looked "dirty" in fact my whole intake didn't make me cringe or anything, but I swear the "feel" is better!

FYI FWIW

You're experiencing the placebo affect. Unless you throw a CEL, the MAF is functioning fine. Cleaning a non-CEL indicating MAF won't change a thing that it's reporting to the PCM.

My Stang and all my other current and previous cars always ran better after a good wash and wax, too.
